A New Dawn of Thai Yoga Massage

Updated: Oct 12, 2024

If you're new to Thai Yoga Massage you're not alone! I was first introduced to this unique treatment only a couple of years ago and once I had experienced the full benefits for myself I was determined to fully qualify and offer it to my clients.

So What is Thai Yoga Massage?

Thai Yoga Massage, which is sometimes referred to as TYM, is classed as a 'dry' treatment where no oils are used.

Through a series of gentle movements, stretches and manipulations of the body and limbs, the therapy works to help create space in the tissues, releasing blockages within our internal pathways and assisting the body in healing.

It lifts the spirits while also providing a feeling of peace and contentment, restoring balance and harmony, through the use of dynamic lengthening and stretching techniques, compression, rocking and pulling.

What are the Benefits of Thai Yoga Massage?

There are many benefits to TYM, but here's some I can testify to myself.

Health and wellbeing benefits include;

  • An improved range of motion

  • Increases in energy levels

  • Can assist in relieving headaches

  • Improvements in flexibility by creating space in our tissues and minds

  • Can aid relaxation, while restoring and re-energising

  • Can help calm anxieties

And finally Thai Yoga Massage bestows the body with loving kindness.

How Does Thai Yoga Massage work?

Unlike many other forms of massage, Thai Yoga Massage is performed on a comfortable padded mat on the floor and clients remain fully clothed.

Keeping an open line of communication during this treatment is important, allowing for the opportunity to work deeply yet safely.

This works to open up the muscles and joints, while stimulating the acupressure points enhancing the body's flow of energy and allowing for freedom of movement along with creating balance and harmony to the body and mind.
