So an opportunity came along, and although I gave it some thought... ermmm about 3 minutes... I decided to go!
I just needed to make it happen, so I did.
A few days in Cape Town staying with friends, a park run, a hike up Table Mountain and a wine tour, which absolutely had to be done.

Internal flight north and a drive to visit more friends, plus a 3 day trip to a community run safari park! Elephants, giraffes, water buffalo, lions, cheetahs, crocs, hippos, rhinos, antelope, and a pangolin! I was extremely lucky to see all of this.
A 2 day tripto St Lucia to see the hippos and a search for turtles, I then returned to base back in Durban.
After a 4 hour road trip to the Drakenbergs (which is just like the Lake District), and a few hikes, followed by lots of wine and ridiculously horrendous thunderstorms and lightening - spectacular but frightening (!), my trip was nearing the end.
A final internal flight back to Cape Town for a couple of nights with a trip to Robben Island (where Nelson Mandela was held for many years), and a few cocktails by the harbour, I can honestly say it was an experience I'll never forget.
And yes, I did have conversations with many people about another trip, so I also decided I better get back to work! Which is ok because I love that too ❤️
